Healthcare professionals in Roseville no longer need to block off an entire workday to complete their American Heart Association® training. Safety Training Seminars, located at 805 Douglas Blvd, Suite 138, offers Self-Guided Learning™ courses for BLS, ACLS, and PALS—right in the heart of Placer County.
The model is straightforward: complete the online cognitive learning at your own pace, then visit the CPR Verification Station™ learning center to verify your skills independently. No scheduled classroom. No fixed group session. Just competency-based training that fits around your shift.
Self-Guided Learning™ is a course-based option from the American Heart Association®. It combines two components:
Learners complete both components independently. Upon successful completion, they receive an American Heart Association Course Completion eCard for BLS, ACLS, or PALS. The eCard is valid for two years and accepted by hospitals, clinics, and healthcare employers nationwide.
The specific course pathway offered at the Roseville location is HeartCode® Complete. This is not the same as the Resuscitation Quality Improvement® (RQI®) program. RQI is a low-dose, high-frequency quality improvement program used within hospital systems. HeartCode® Complete follows a defined course pathway for initial or renewal training—resulting in a standard Course Completion eCard.
HeartCode® is a trademark of the American Heart Association.
The online portion of a Self-Guided Learning course uses True Adaptive™ learning powered by Area9 Lyceum. This technology continuously assesses your knowledge and confidence as you progress through the material.
Standard e-learning forces you through content you already know. True Adaptive learning does the opposite. It identifies your individual knowledge gaps and adjusts the content path accordingly. If you demonstrate mastery of an arrhythmia algorithm or drug dosage, the system moves you forward. If you show hesitation or answer incorrectly, it provides targeted feedback and additional practice on that specific topic.
The result: experienced providers move through material efficiently, while first-time learners receive the depth of support they need. The online learning activity must be completed before the hands-on skills session. Completing the online portion alone does not result in an eCard.
Once you’ve completed the online learning activity, you visit the CPR Verification Station™ learning center at 805 Douglas Blvd, Suite 138, to complete your self-guided skills session.
This is where the training becomes hands-on. The station uses voice-assisted manikins (VAMs) and advanced sensors to measure your performance against American Heart Association guidelines. There is no instructor present. The assessment is entirely objective.
The system measures:
You receive real-time, audiovisual performance feedback throughout the session. If your technique doesn’t meet the required criteria on the first attempt, you can repeat the skills activity immediately and practice until you achieve a passing score.
This setup removes the social pressure of group classroom settings. Your performance is evaluated against clinical data—not a subjective instructor opinion.
Self-Guided Learning courses are designed for healthcare professionals and allied healthcare providers who need flexibility. Specifically, this approach works well for:
If your hospital uses the RQI program for ongoing quality improvement, that system operates separately. HeartCode® Complete is the right pathway for individuals seeking initial or renewal course completion outside of a hospital-administered program.
Here’s how the full process works at the Roseville location:
A quick but important note on language. American Heart Association BLS, ACLS, and PALS courses result in an American Heart Association Course Completion eCard—not a professional certification or license. The term “certification” appears frequently in casual usage, but the accurate term is course completion.
Your eCard carries the same weight as one issued after a traditional classroom course. Hospitals, clinics, dental offices, and emergency care employers throughout Roseville and across California accept it as verification of your training. The eCard is valid for two years.
Safety Training Seminars has operated as an official American Heart Association Training Center since 1989. The Roseville location serves healthcare professionals from Rocklin, Granite Bay, Citrus Heights, Antelope, Lincoln, Orangevale, and North Sacramento.
Courses are available daily, including evenings and weekends. The office operates seven days a week, 8 AM to 10 PM. BLS is priced at $120, while ACLS and PALS are each $290—backed by a Low Price Guarantee. If you find a lower price for an identical American Heart Association course, Safety Training Seminars will match or beat it.
For medical staff between shifts at Sutter Roseville Medical Center or Kaiser Permanente Roseville, the combination of flexible online learning and a quick 30-minute skills session at the local CPR Verification Station learning center makes this the most practical option available.
Self-Guided Learning™ courses give Roseville healthcare professionals a faster, more flexible path to American Heart Association course completion. Study online at your own pace. Verify your skills independently. Receive your eCard the same day.
